It's been a while in the making, but we're finally doing it. After working for a while at our respective places of employment, we decided that an early retirement was in order while all of our joints still function and we don't have any real life commitments to tend to.
So we've headed south. Do we speak Spanish? Poorly. Do we have tons of bike touring experience? Limited. What we do have, however, is a lot of love for things unknown. Starting at the end of January 2012, we'll be slowly pedling and busing our way down South America, starting in Guayaquil and ending who knows where. Roughly following the Pan American Highway, we'll be looking for places to stop and volunteer, teach, WWOOF and escape along the way.
We pieced this site together after an overwhelming number of requests from family and friends to have a way to keep abreast of our tiumphs and follies. Have a looksie at the blog to see what we've been up to or the route to check where abouts we are. We'll update as internet allows, so in between please rest assured that we're somewhere well below your feet, enjoying the fresh air.
Love,
Vanessa, Ryland and Fern
